Pop Pink Princess: A Bright and Bubbly Beauty Makeover for the Forever Young

Pink has many moods, but our favourite is almost always the girly-girl pop of colour that instantly adds vibrancy to any look. Be it something special like your bestie’s bachelorette or just a fun and fabulous night out with the girl gang, a pop of colour and some sparkle is all you need to wow your squad. The Pop Pink Princess look is also great to bring the fun out of a sober outfit – dress up or dress down, the peppy look is sure to make a statement on its own.

Take it either way – gentle and elegant or bright and lively, the pop pink princess makeover is for those who loves to look beyond the safe zone and turn up the fun high. Creative, innovative and versatile, this makeup look is sure to become a fast favourite for the forever young. With a bit of patience and practice, you can easily master the look. Here’s a quick DIY to get you started:

Sweet Sparkly Eyes

  • Prime eyes with MAC Paint Pot in Layin’ Low.
  • Build a soft transition on the crease line with soft blush pinks. Start with the lightest tone and slowly build up the intensity with darker tones. I have use the eyeshadow shades Confection, Cupcake, Simple Marlena and Frappe from Makeup Geek.
  • Apply MAC Club eyeshadow on the socket and gradually blend towards the transition area. Make sure to stay clear of blending over the transition area, so as to not lose the crease line colours.
  • Now make the colours pop by applying MAC shimmer in blue brown. This will not only intensify the eyeshadow, but add a bit of sheen as well.
  • Once more, go over the crease line with the transition colours used before.
  • For defined eyebrows, use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencil in a shade that best suits your skin tone
  • Apply Bobbi Brown Pro Longwear black track gel liner and curl the lashes with a good helping of mascara. I use Eyeko Fat Brush Mascara for fuller and longer lashes.
  • Pro Tip: For more emphasis on the eyes at night, dab on fine sparkles or glitter in transparent clear tones.

    Dewy Glowy Skin

For this peppy fresh look, a glowing young face is absolutely a must. Prepping and priming the skin are the first steps to bring out a dewy finish, followed by gentle layering and blending for a soft flawless complexion.

  • Moisturise the skin well and apply Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow cream, along with the primer.
  • Follow up with an illuminator-mixed foundation like the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.
  • MAC Studio Fix Concealer can easily take care of any dark areas and under eye concealing.
  • Highlight nose, cheekbones, chin and the forehead with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in a shade that compliments your base. My favourites for Asian skin are Biscuit, Caramel, Honey, Ginger and custard shades of this concealer.
  • Apply loose powder with a brush to fix the base. I use Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
  • You can pick soft flesh tone pink shades like the Chanel Sunkiss Ribbon Blush Quad and highlighting shimmer on the cheekbones for blush and contour. Try Rose Spritz and Champagne Pop from the Becca x Jaclyn hill champagne collection face palette.
  • Pro Tip: I just can’t do without my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and Wonderglow cream when prepping for a dewy finish. They are exceptional on normal to dry skin; I wouldn’t recommend them on oily or acne prone skin though. For a iridescent pearly glow, mix in just a hint of BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop with your foundation.

Now, that the eyes and skin have played their parts to perfection, it is time to get your lips do the talking too. As colour is the binding force in this pretty makeover, let’s start with Colorbar Definer Lip Liner in Splendid Pink and then fill in the pout with MAC Retro Matte Lip Liquid in Divine. The final result is luscious kissable lips that syncs to the tune of your sparkly eyes.
